Advocate Surgery Residency Mission Statement

Our mission at the Advocate General Surgery Residency Program is to recruit and guide a diverse group of residents to become skilled surgeons as well as innovative leaders in surgery.  We are also committed to creating an environment of learning, professional development, and inclusion for all the residents.

Advocate Surgery Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Statement

A diverse and inclusive environment not only improves the care we provide to patients but also the experience of our residents and faculty.  We believe that recognizing and appreciating different backgrounds, cultures, sexual identities, and abilities is fundamental to being a healthcare provider.  We work to have these ideals reflected in our thought, education, and practice.  Our program ensures equal opportunities for our trainees, providing mentorship and support to all residents.  We welcome those who have faced unique challenges in their medical career, as we firmly believe their resilience and diverse experiences will strengthen our residency.  It is our hope that through representation, affirmation, learning and initiatives, our residents and faculty will be empowered to address health care disparities in their communities and throughout their surgical careers.
